The Remix story

After the release of DIEGO in February 2022, Aldora Britain Records owner Tom Hilton asked the band if they would be interested in releasing a single on the label. Tom tirelessly scours the Internet for indie artists and enthusiastically and lovingly promotes the music to his community of followers. The band jumped at the chance to release a single on the Aldora Britain Records imprint, but wanted to do something more than just a re-release of a DIEGO track.

That set the remixes in motion. Two tracks -- "I Don't Live in Colorado (Anymore)" and "Up on the Street (Swede Hollow)" -- were reworked to include drums by Nashville session drummer Harry C. Wilkinson Jr. and updated contributions by all of the band members. The Other Hit’s Pat Courtemanche deeply admired Harry’s drumming on Michael Murphey’s Blue Sky - Night Thunder album from 1975 (including the smash hit single "Wildfire"), and tracked him down to see if he’d consider drumming on a few of the band’s tracks. Harry, who has also worked with Larry Coryell, Terri Gibbs and many other giants, generously agreed.

New bass tracks by Linda Haus, additional keyboards by Jim Tollefsrud and additional vocals by Carla Tollefsrud are all part of the remixes, along with the original percussion by Daryl Boudreaux (on "Colorado") and the original guitar, vocals and keyboards by Pat Courtemanche.

Josh Parlanti and Steve Kaul of Wild Sound Recording Studio in Minneapolis jumped in to do additional mixing as well as mastering. Dan Ward, owner of Hitmaker Studio in Wheelersburg, OH, recorded Harry's drum tracks. They are all pros and great to work with.

Special thanks to Executive Producer Tom Hilton of Aldora Britain Records who inspired the remixes - and for all he does for the indie music community.

The Other Hit is beyond grateful for the one and only Harry C. Wilkinson Jr. Harry put his deep soul into the project and elevated the songs. The album DIEGO was inspired by the sounds of 1970s radio, and Harry was part of that landscape with his brilliant drumming on "Wildfire" (still heard on radio every day in 2022). He brought the project full circle on these remixes.
